Woodchuck Gumption celebrates the spirit of P.T. Barnum and those with the gumption to follow their own path.
Woodchuck Gumption Hard Cider, is by far my first choice of cider when heading to a party or small gathering. If someone is a first time hard cider drinker and asks me for a recommendation, I’ll typically direct them towards something readily available and easier to come by such as Gumption. I really feel like Woodchuck hit the nail on the head with this one. You can really taste the passion that went into it, without feeling sugar sick later on like some other more “sweet” hard ciders.
From the crisp apple taste to the delightful aroma that comes from Gumption you can really tell Woodchuck thought this one through and perfected it prior to release. A company such as Woodchuck I feel is always being pressed for what they’re going to release next, or whats just around the corner, with as competitive a market as Hard Cider has become over the last few years we’ve seen such a brilliant increase in flavor options and yet, Gumption still stands out for us even now, 4 years after its release.
The Brass Tax – So lets get down to the nitty gritty, If you enjoy sweeter hard ciders, pick this one up for sure. If you are on the fence about hard cider in general or about this one, pick it up. You really almost cannot go wrong with this one, as stated before I personally grab a 6 pack or two of this when ever I attend a byob event because its a fun way to get people into hard cider. And of course I can always pick up a bottle or two for myself if there isn’t any other hard cider.
I would give this one a 4 out of 5, purely based on the sweetness, as there are some out there that are not fond of sweeter ciders and may not enjoy this one as much. And while it is my go to for parties, that is more so because it is available at a plethora of local stores. With that said, its still a great grab on a hot Florida afternoon.
